Flight search guide

Search every airport in a city at once.

Type New York into Wayzuno and one search covers JFK, Newark (EWR) and LaGuardia (LGA). Or pick the exact airports you want. Wayzuno is free to use and needs no account.

Why one airport is the wrong default

Searching a single airport assumes you already know which one has the better flight. Usually you don't.

  1. Airlines split their networks. In New York, some carriers concentrate long-haul flying at JFK and others at Newark. The nonstop you want may only exist at one of them.
  2. Price gaps are route-specific. One airport can be cheaper for one destination and more expensive for the next.
  3. Mixing airports is often allowed. Many airlines price a trip that leaves from one airport and returns to another in the same city as a normal round trip.

City codes: the shortcut most people never use

A few three-letter codes don't belong to any single airport. They're IATA city codes, shorthand for the main airports serving a city:

How Wayzuno searches a metro area

One search covers every airport in a metro area, or only the exact airports you pick. Untick an airport you don't want and it's left out. Farther airports are searched too, but they're only shown when they save enough to be worth the trip.

The catch: count the ride

A cheaper airport is only cheaper once you add the trip to and from it. Stansted and Luton are much farther from central London than London City. Dulles is a longer ride from downtown Washington than Reagan National. Compare the fare difference with the ground transport, door to door, before you book.

Common questions

What's a flight search tool that checks all New York airports at once?

Wayzuno searches JFK, Newark (EWR) and LaGuardia (LGA) together when you type New York. You can also pick exact airports. It is free and needs no account. Many other search sites accept the city code NYC as well.

How do I compare flights from JFK, Newark and LaGuardia in one search?

Search the city code NYC instead of a single airport, or use a search that covers the whole metro area by default, as Wayzuno does. Then compare the fare difference against the cost and time of getting to each airport.

Can I fly out of one airport and come back into another in the same city?

Often, yes. Many airlines price a trip that leaves from JFK and returns to Newark, for example, as a normal round trip. Check the fare rules for your ticket.

How do I find cheaper flights by flying from a nearby airport?

Search every airport in your area at once rather than one at a time, then add the ground transport to each fare before comparing. A farther airport is only worth it if the saving beats the extra trip.
